St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit in the Prime Minister’s Office has released the third issue of the St. Kitts and Nevis Diaspora Digest, focusing on investment and technology for economic growth and social development.
In his message to the diaspora, Rt. Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, Minister of Economic Development and Investment, discussed the ministry’s efforts to attract investments to St. Kitts and Nevis. He highlighted the presence of major financial institutions such as the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE), and the Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank (ECHMB) as indicators of the nation’s favourable investment environment.
“The Ministry of Economic Development and Investment is responsible for seeking out, inviting, and accommodating investments into our beautiful country. I am privileged to greet you through the St. Kitts and Nevis Diaspora Digest and to inform those of our nationals in the diaspora that there is a place in the land of your birth or the birth of your fore-parents which is ripe for your investments,” said Minister Douglas.
Douglas detailed various investment opportunities in sectors such as hotel and tourism, food security, education services, manufacturing, and renewable energy, focusing on climate resiliency. He also outlined infrastructure improvement plans, including a new bypass road, an economic free zone, water access exploration, and investments in geothermal energy.
In a message to the diaspora, Hon. Mark Brantley, Premier and Minister of Investment in the Nevis Island Administration, emphasised Nevis’s progress in fostering innovation and attracting investments. He highlighted the streamlined investment process through the revamped Nevis Investment Promotion Agency and its one-stop-shop portal, www.investnevis.org.
“Our island is a land of opportunities, and we are committed to creating an environment that encourages entrepreneurial spirit and forward-thinking initiatives,” Brantley stated.
Brantley noted the importance of diaspora contributions, including remittances and maintaining bank accounts in Nevis, which aid in liquidity and access to capital. He invited investments in financial services, tourism, light manufacturing, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture, property development, and healthcare.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA) promotes and facilitates investment in the Federation. SKIPA markets St. Kitts and Nevis as a prime investment destination through global marketing campaigns and participation in international trade shows, investment forums, and business expos. The agency supports potential and existing investors, guiding them through local investment procedures, legal requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
The Nevis Investment Promotion Agency (NIPA) is also dedicated to attracting and facilitating investment in Nevis. NIPA focuses on key sectors such as light manufacturing, entertainment, financial services, tourism and hospitality, renewable energy, real estate, agriculture, and ICT. The agency supports infrastructure development and streamlines regulatory processes to facilitate business operations on Nevis.
